Last week, Andrew Trivett crossed the Tasman to represent Tri-Tech Chemical Company at the 2026 Surface Coatings Association New Zealand (SCANZ) Convention in Blenheim.

This year marked a massive milestone for the association as it celebrated its 75th diamond anniversary. True to the event’s theme, “From Tradition to Tomorrow,” the convention went off with a bang, successfully blending the rich history of the New Zealand coatings sector with a forward-looking approach to formulation.

Reconnecting with the Industry While the technical sessions provided excellent insights, the true highlight of the convention was the opportunity to network. It was fantastic for Andrew to catch up with old friends, industry peers, and customers face-to-face. Building and maintaining these strong relationships is a core part of how Tri-Tech operates, ensuring we understand the unique, on-the-ground challenges facing the New Zealand market.

A Continued Focus on Sustainability Unsurprisingly, the major talking point that dominated conversations and presentations throughout the event was sustainability. The coatings industry is maintaining a sharp, collective focus on green and renewable chemistry.

As formulators seek to balance high performance with environmental responsibility, Tri-Tech remains committed to providing the sustainable chemical solutions and specialty additives necessary to support this vital industry shift.

Congratulations to SCANZ on 75 brilliant years, and a massive thank you to everyone who took the time to connect with Andrew. We look forward to seeing what the future holds for the New Zealand coatings industry!
