Last week, Tri-Tech Chemical Company had the privilege of attending the 2026 Australian Society of Sugar Cane Technologists (ASSCT) Conference in Mackay. With over 400 participants from across the sugar industry coming together, the energy, knowledge sharing, and level of engagement on the ground were absolutely brilliant.

Continuing an Industry Legacy

As a relatively new face in the sugar sector, the most common question we received was simply: “Who is Tri-Tech?” It was a fantastic opportunity to introduce ourselves as the new kid on the block and share our story. Recently, highly respected industry veteran Tike Traicos of TD Chemicals announced his retirement. To ensure the sugar sector continued to have uninterrupted access to premium specialty chemicals, Tike officially passed the business to Tri-Tech. We are incredibly proud to take on this legacy, acting as the primary producer and supplier of critical Defoamers and Pan Aids for the Australian sugar industry.

Navigating Pressures with Local Solutions

Beyond the introductions, the conference provided an important look at the current state of the market. It is no secret that the Australian sugar industry is currently under significant pressure.

However, the overarching theme at ASSCT was one of resilience. As an industry, we need to work closely together to find innovative, practical solutions that better position our growers, mills, and refineries for long-term stability and success.

At Tri-Tech, we take our role in that ecosystem seriously. As a proud Australian Chemical Manufacturer, we are committed to providing the reliable, locally produced additives needed to make the industry stronger and more efficient.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to chat with John Keramidas and the team. We look forward to building on these relationships and continuing to deliver responsible solutions for the Australian sugar sector.
